Pull-on elastic waist pants with no side seams.
The Taper Pant is cut narrow through the thigh and knee and then slightly tapered to the hem. Think of these as “loose fit leggings.”
The Wide-Leg Pant is cut full through the thigh and knee, and a slight taper at the hem (you can cut straight down from knee to hem if you prefer).

Taper Pants
There is no extra ease in the hips, waist, rise, and thigh for non-stretch fabrics. Knits ONLY. Cut a size or two smaller than your measurements using a two-way stretch fabric and this pattern makes a wonderful legging.
Suggested fabrics: Ponte, Cotton/LYCRA knit, Rayon/LYCRA knit, Wool blend double knits and stretch velvets.
Suggested design options: For woven fabrics cut at least 2 sizes larger than when using a 4 way stretch fabric.
Wide Leg Pants
It has a slight taper at the hem (you can cut straight down from knee to hem if you prefer.) The pattern to reach for when a simple, easy to wear pant is needed. Choose a size or two larger than your hip measurement for extra comfort ease and style. Perfect with #505 Swing Shirt.
Suggested fabrics: Fabrics that drape. Ponte, Cotton/LYCRA knit, Rayon/LYCRA knit, Wool blend double knits and stretch velvets, linen, wool blends, LYCRA Blends, Cotton Textures etc…
Soft fabrics such as rayon, wool gauze, lightweight loosely woven linen, hemp and cotton. Wool jersey, wool crepe, rayon matte jersey (a favorite).
Suggested design options:
Add a series (usually 3's) of horizontal tucks mid to lower calf.
Widen the legs considerably for a flowing look!
You can crop these at any length you prefer.
Add a large patch-style (with flap or without) pocket to the side while the pant leg is flat for a sporty look.
