The ruching and stretch waistband made in soft rayon/lycra jersey means you can go ahead and have that slice of pie! This skirt is divine in soft, stretchy fabrics like rayon/lycra jersey, or haatchi knitsolids or rayon/lycra or poly/lycra print jersey.

This quick-to-make ruched pencil skirt in two lengths - knee length 20" and midi length 26"-  is a fun sewing project that teaches you to sew with stretch elastic on stretch fabric. This technique is also used on elastic waistbands and swimwear.

The skirt is entirely self-lined and made in the recommended soft and stretchy rayon/Lycra is incredibly comfortable to wear. This skirt requires negative ease (it's smaller than you are) to stay up, and has a stretch fabric waistband at the top. You'll need to make this at least one size smaller than you usually wear (for example, if you measure a 12 in Christine Jonson patterns based on the size chart, make a 10). It is form fitting, yet flattering, with it's many rows of ruching to hide any lumps and bumps.
