Cutting one layer a bit shorter than the other for a peek at the under-layer is a fun design option. The single layer skirt option is great for mid to heavy weight LYCRA blend stretch knits that stand on their own.
Double layer skirts can have elastic sandwiched between the layers while single layer skirts can use a casing or turn-over serge and topstitch waistline.
FABRIC SUGGESTIONS: Lycra blend stretch knits with at least 50% crosswise stretch. Fabrics with good draping qualities or body and bounce work equally well offering different style. The less crosswise stretch the fabric offers the larger pattern size you will need. The stretchier the fabric the smaller size.
